Bournemouth have officially announced the signing of Juanlu Sanchez, a Spanish right-back from Sevilla, for a total transfer fee of £11.1 million, including an initial £9.4 million and potential add-ons worth £1.7 million. Bournemouth confirmed that the 22-year-old arrives with over 100 senior appearances for Sevilla under his belt.

A Proven European Profile

Juanlu Sanchez has featured for Sevilla’s first team in European competitions such as the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup, and La Liga. He is also an Olympic champion with Spain in 2024, scoring the decisive goal in the semi-final against Morocco and contributing to his country’s victory over France in the final. “I’m very happy, both for myself and my family. We were really eager to come here, and now I can finally say I’m a Bournemouth player,” Juanlu told the club. Tiago Pinto, Bournemouth’s Football Operations Director, praised the young Spaniard: “Juanlu has an excellent level of experience at just 22 years old, and we’re thrilled to add him to Marco’s squad. His performances in Spain and European competitions show he can consistently compete at the highest level. He’s still young, ambitious, and motivated, which is a great asset for the team ahead of the new season.”

Bournemouth Continue Summer Recruitment

Juanlu Sanchez is the third summer signing for Bournemouth, following the arrivals of Antonio Silva from Benfica for £25.7 million and Alvaro Rodriguez, a striker signed from Elche for the same fee. Manager Marco Rose is now looking to sign a second-choice goalkeeper to support Djordje Petrovic before pre-season begins. The Cherries are set for a historic campaign as they make their debut in the UEFA Europa League. On the departure front, Bournemouth may sell striker Enes Unal, with Sevilla reportedly interested. However, the Turkish player has other offers from clubs in Turkey and Saudi Arabia to finalize his move this summer. Internal club sources also indicate that young talents Eli Junior Kroupi, Rayan, and Alex Scott are not available for transfer.
