Brighton: Hurzeler discusses Baleba's future and Europe

Fabian Hurzeler, Brighton's manager, discussed the situation of Cameroonian midfielder Joël Baleba and the club's European ambitions for next season on Wednesday. Speaking to Sky Sports, he confirmed that Baleba remains part of his plans despite transfer speculation. The young player, on loan from Olympique Lyonnais, could continue his Premier League adventure with the Seagulls.

Regarding ambitions, Hurzeler reiterated that Brighton is targeting a Europa League qualification. Such an achievement, he believes, would be a fitting reward after two successful seasons in the Premier League. "We have built a competitive team, and every player is important to achieve that," he stated. The English club is banking on continuity to strengthen its squad and aim higher next season. Additionally, Brighton has endured a string of tight matches late in the season, with some disappointing results. Yet, the South Coast club has shown consistency, finishing in the top 10 of the league. This stability could be an asset in attracting new talent and solidifying its place among Europe's elite. The stakes of the final Premier League matchday will therefore be crucial for Brighton, which could still play the role of spoiler. On the recruitment front, the Seagulls are keeping their plans under wraps. Hurzeler merely indicated that discussions were underway to strengthen key positions. One thing is certain: Brighton intends to make the most of the summer to prepare for an ambitious new season. Arsenal, for its part, secured an important win ahead of a clash with Bournemouth, but Brighton is determined not to be left behind. To recap, Brighton finished the season in 9th place in the English league with 54 points. Despite ups and downs, this performance confirms the club's progress under Hurzeler's leadership. With a team in the making and European ambitions, Brighton could once again spring a surprise next season.
