Sardinian club Cagliari has announced that its striker Yael Trepy, 20, is in intensive care at the Santissima Annunziata Civil Hospital in Sassari, Sardinia. According to local newspaper Unione Sarda, the player was reportedly airlifted to the facility after losing consciousness in a swimming pool Sunday afternoon. Cagliari stated it is in constant contact with the medical facility and the player’s family while closely monitoring his condition.

Cagliari noted that its players had enjoyed a rest weekend following their 1-0 Coppa Italia victory over Arezzo on Friday. Trepy had featured for 54 minutes in that match. The club also expressed its solidarity with the player and his family, asking for their privacy to be respected and promising updates as soon as possible. Trepy, who has been part of Cagliari’s senior squad since 2022 after rising through its academy, scored one goal in eight Serie A appearances last season. Before joining the Sardinian academy, he began his youth career at French club US Créteil-Lusitanos. His hospitalization in intensive care highlights the risks of domestic accidents, even during rest periods.
