Three European giants set their sights on Cherki

Rayan Cherki is exploding at the start of the 2026-27 season in Manchester City colors. Two assists against Bournemouth, then a brace in the comprehensive 4-1 victory over Crystal Palace: the 23-year-old Frenchman is establishing himself as one of Enzo Maresca’s key offensive assets. European giants have taken notice, and three clubs are now in the running to sign him as early as January 2027.

Three European heavyweights in the race for the French prodigy

According to sources close to the agents, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, and Bayern Munich are now closely monitoring Cherki’s progress. The Madrid club sees him as an additional creative outlet, capable of playing between midfield and attack. Meanwhile, PSG dreams of bringing back one of France’s brightest talents to bolster their Ligue 1 squad. As for Bayern Munich, they are evaluating the attacking midfielder as part of their long-term search for creative quality. No official offers have been made yet, but his market value is already estimated at €90 million. In Manchester, there are no plans to let Cherki go without exceptional compensation. The player, who joined from Lyon in 2025 on a five-year deal running until 2030, has adapted well to the rigors of the English league. His key role in Maresca’s offensive system—where he can play centrally or on the wings—makes his departure unlikely. City are in control of the situation, especially since his contract is locked in until 2030.

A soaring market value, but major obstacles

The growing interest from three of Europe’s biggest clubs is clear proof of Cherki’s meteoric rise. Yet a January sale still seems unrealistic. City have no reason to part with a player whose influence has become indispensable. His versatile profile, capable of creating chances both centrally and out wide, is hard to replace. Could an astronomical offer sway Manchester’s hierarchy? Unlikely. For now, neither the club nor Cherki himself appears ready to entertain a move. The young Frenchman has not yet requested guaranteed starting spots, and City’s hierarchy remains unyielding on contractual terms. While the interest from Europe’s elite confirms his status as an emerging star, a January 2027 transfer remains highly improbable. More than a concrete recruitment lead, this attention reflects above all Cherki’s spectacular rise. With recent rumors about Enzo Fernández’s potential departure making waves, City may well look for an alternative within the Premier League rather than part ways with Cherki. For now, this seems a more realistic path than a move to one of the three European giants.
