The new president of SAD Estrela da Amadora, Johannes Mösmang, made his first statements this Tuesday following his election to lead the club. The German, who replaces Paulo Lopo, assures that the change in leadership will not alter the club’s values or identity. "Estrela has always been a club very close to its supporters, and we will continue in the same vein. We will remain as close as possible and play the most effective football for them, offering them the maximum success within the limits of our reality. We will stay rooted in the traditions and values they want and need."
For him, supporters are at the heart of football: "I come from a club [Bayern Munich] that maintains a close relationship with its supporters, and for me, they are the most important. Without them, football does not exist and cannot grow." Mösmang, 35, also highlights the importance of investing in infrastructure to ensure the club’s growth, both sporting and financial. "For the club to grow organically and competitively, infrastructure is the most important thing. Sport is always fluctuating—there are good and bad seasons—but what truly gives a club value and stability is its infrastructure. Our approach, of course, is to invest in infrastructure."
A thriving Portuguese league
The new president of E. Amadora also praised Portugal and the Liga Portugal, two factors that motivated his investment in the club. "Portugal has a league that is growing, with upcoming infrastructure changes. It is a top-six European league, the one that exports the most talent to Europe’s ‘Big Five’ leagues, and it facilitates the integration and adaptation of young players, particularly those from South America, Africa, or the rest of Europe. It is a competitive league with excellent football quality and rare individual talent. Right now, I believe it is one of the most exciting leagues, with the best parameters for growth in the coming years." Mösmang adds: "Beyond Portugal, Estrela is a club located in a European capital rich in tradition and culture, and it is a supporters’ club with enormous potential. I won’t convince any Portuguese to support Sporting, Benfica, or FC Porto, but I think I can win over many foreigners to support Estrela da Amadora."
A bridge with Bayern Munich
The businessman, who has close ties with Bayern Munich, has hinted at the possibility of a player exchange between the two clubs. "The Liga Portugal is a top platform for young talents on the verge of turning professional at Bayern. We will have a very close exchange between the two clubs." E. Amadora has officially finalized the sale of 90% of the capital in its SAD to a consortium consisting of Mats Hummels, Thomas Müller, and Yann Sommer. This transaction marks a turning point for the tricolour club, now backed by major figures in European football.
