English defender John Stones has joined Italian champions Inter Milan on a free transfer. He has signed a two-year contract with the Milan-based club.
At 32 years old, John Stones left Manchester City at the end of his contract in late June, after a decade in the Premier League. He stated that he had "achieved all [his] dreams" by winning six Premier League titles, the Champions League, two FA Cups, five League Cups, three Community Shields, the FIFA Club World Cup, and the UEFA Super Cup with the Citizens. Since his departure, Stones has drawn interest from several European clubs, including Chelsea and Juventus. Having won the Italian league for the 21st time last season, Inter Milan will begin their title defense against newly promoted Monza on Saturday, August 22. Stones, who has played as a center-back, joined the Italian club after being developed at Barnsley. He made 295 appearances for Manchester City since arriving in 2016 from Everton for £47.5 million. Stones also has 93 caps for England, where he participated in this summer’s World Cup, finishing third in the tournament. Notably, he started the matches against Norway in the quarter-finals and Argentina in the semi-finals, which England lost 2-1. A growing international career John Stones made his England debut in 2014. His international experience flourished in the summer of 2026, where he contributed to the Three Lions' strong World Cup performance. His move to Inter Milan marks a new chapter in an already accomplished career, following a fruitful decade at club level.
