Montpellier on the verge of signing the successor to Enzo Tchato

The Montpellier Hérault Sport Club (MHSC) may have found Enzo Tchato's successor in Ligue 2. According to our sources, the right-back from En Avant Guingamp, Alpha Sissoko, is set to leave the Côtes-d'Armor to join another second-division club. Despite strong competition for his signature, the player is said to have already decided in favor of the Hérault-based club.

A profile sought after by several clubs

Alpha Sissoko, a 24-year-old right-back, has established himself as a key figure in Guingamp's squad this season. His versatile profile and ability to provide defensive solidity have caught the attention of several Ligue 2 clubs, but Montpellier appears to have taken the lead. The MHSC, in search of reinforcements to strengthen its team, is said to have placed its bets on the player to replace Enzo Tchato, who has moved elsewhere. Negotiations between the two clubs are already well advanced, even though competition has been fierce. Ligue 1 clubs have not been idle, but Sissoko has ultimately opted for an adventure in Ligue 2, where he could benefit from more playing time.

An arrival that fits Montpellier’s dynamic

The arrival of Alpha Sissoko aligns with the MHSC’s ambition to reinforce its defensive sector, a crucial point as the season draws to a close. The Hérault-based club, which has already been active in the transfer market with two potential targets before the transfer window closed, could now complete a strategic recruitment. With a defense that has sometimes shown fragility, Montpellier is banking on experienced profiles to stabilize its backline. If the deal is finalized in the coming hours, Alpha Sissoko could become the new face of Montpellier’s defense as early as the restart. A signing that, if confirmed, would send a strong signal to other Ligue 2 clubs about the MHSC’s ambitions for the coming months.
