Real Zaragoza have reached an agreement for the departure of Samed Bazdar, who will leave the club in the coming hours. The Bosnian, currently in Belgium for a medical examination with Sint-Truidense VV, is expected to sign a contract with the Belgian club. The transfer fee is around €1.5 million, with a percentage clause on any future sale.
A departure after several failed attempts
This deal puts an end to several aborted attempts this summer. Bazdar had already nearly left during the last transfer window, but each operation ultimately fell through. The current offer, deemed acceptable by all parties, now leaves no room for doubt. The Bosnian will leave the club without fanfare after a complicated period at Real Zaragoza. Arriving on loan this winter, Bazdar never convinced the various coaches who succeeded each other on the bench. His time at the club was marked by performances below expectations, despite his status as a player called up for the World Cup with his national team. His transfer has allowed Real Zaragoza to recover part of its initial investment, estimated at €3 million.
A budget freed up for a new striker
Bazdar’s departure meets the expectations of the Aragonese club, which wanted to part ways with the Bosnian, partly due to his refusal to play in the
Primera RFEF. With the funds obtained, Real Zaragoza will be able to consider signing a new striker to strengthen its squad alongside Edu Espiau and Pau Sans.
Jesús de Miguel, currently at Tenerife, is among the top targets, but his arrival would require a paid transfer, now feasible thanks to the released funds. This move is part of a rebuilding strategy following the club’s relegation to the Primera RFEF. The club is focusing on targeted signings to quickly regain competitiveness while maintaining record attendance among its supporters, now exceeding 20,000 members. The sale of Bazdar comes at a time when Real Zaragoza is attempting to rebuild after a challenging season. The club took advantage of its increased market value, notably due to its participation in the World Cup, to finalize this deal. While the amount received does not cover the initial investment in full, it at least helps minimize losses and free up resources for the future. The Aragonese club’s management now hopes to capitalize on this momentum to attract profiles capable of revitalizing the team in the league. Sint-Truidense VV, for its part, is banking on Bazdar’s experience to bolster its attack in the Belgian
First Division A.
