Red Bull ignores Verstappen's advice in Canada

Max Verstappen has openly criticised Red Bull's technical management following the Canadian Grand Prix. The triple world champion revealed that his team has not always followed his requests regarding the setup of his car. According to Autosport's report, engineers sometimes chose not to implement his adjustments, preferring a different approach. During a post-race interview session, Verstappen explained that some decisions made by his team were intended to make him feel the limits of his RB20 more acutely. "Sometimes, they want me to feel the car differently," he said, emphasising that these choices were part of a deliberate strategy rather than a simple oversight. This divergence of opinions between the driver and his technical staff has already raised questions about cohesion within the Austrian team. This situation echoes past tensions between Verstappen and Red Bull, particularly during the 2021 season. At the time, the Dutchman had publicly expressed his dissatisfaction with certain strategic decisions he deemed unfavourable. Today, although the team is dominating the Constructors' Championship, these internal rumblings could undermine their collective momentum. Verstappen, for his part, remains focused on his performance and his pursuit of a fourth world title. To better understand the technical stakes in Formula 1, it is worth examining the fundamentals of Formula 1 cars. These highly sophisticated machines require a delicate balance between aerodynamics, power, and grip. Every adjustment, even a minor one, can have a significant impact on lap times. In this context, collaboration between drivers and engineers is crucial to maximising a team's potential. Red Bull, which is banking on its Verstappen-Sergio Pérez duo to maintain its lead, will need to clarify its position quickly. The next race in Spain will be an opportunity to see whether the team can reconcile the expectations of its star driver with its own technical direction.
