Tottenham are in talks with Manchester City over a double transfer involving forwards Savinho and Omar Marmoush. Sources close to the deal told BBC Sport that negotiations between the two clubs are ongoing, but no deal has yet been finalised.

A long-standing interest in Savinho

Tottenham’s interest in Brazilian attacking midfielder Savinho dates back to 2025, when the 22-year-old had chosen to remain at the Etihad Stadium. However, his playing time was limited to just seven Premier League starts last season. After arriving for £30 million from French club Troyes in 2024, he now appears ready to leave Manchester City. In terms of performance, Savinho scored one goal in seven league appearances last season, according to available data. His technical profile and versatility could appeal to the London club, which is looking to bolster its attack following a difficult Premier League campaign.

Marmoush, a player seeking playing time

Omar Marmoush, signed for £59 million in 2025 after his time at Eintracht Frankfurt, has also seen his playing time reduced under Pep Guardiola during the 2025-26 season. The 27-year-old Egyptian attacking midfielder has scored eight goals in 36 appearances across all competitions. His departure could allow City to secure a financial gain, similar to Savinho. Tottenham’s management, led by Italian coach Roberto De Zerbi, have already made significant changes in midfield this summer with the arrivals of Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali for a combined £185 million. However, the manager has emphasised the need to strengthen the attack after finishing 17th in the Premier League last season, with just 48 goals scored in 38 matches.

Possible trio of reinforcements?

Spurs are also interested in Dutch forward Cody Gakpo of Liverpool, but it is unclear whether the club can finance a transfer for the player in addition to signing Marmoush and Savinho. The club’s financial situation could therefore play a key role in finalising these deals. On Manchester City’s side, several players have already been sold this summer, including midfielder Rodri, Tijjani Reijnders and second-choice goalkeeper James Trafford. These departures could ease the way for negotiations over the two forwards, whose valuations remain to be confirmed. The two clubs are preparing to launch their Premier League campaigns: Tottenham face Brentford away this Saturday at 5:30pm (UK time), while City host Bournemouth on Sunday at 2pm.
