Espanyol claimed all three points in a tight 3-0 win against Levante on Sunday evening, with a decisive goal from Tyrhys Dolan sealing the victory. The English forward capitalized on a well-executed counterattack to beat Levante goalkeeper Ryan and put the hosts ahead.
Dolan delivers the decisive moment
Espanyol struggled to break down a resilient Levante defense throughout most of the match. However, it was their ability to exploit counterattacks that ultimately decided the game. Dolan, who had been introduced as a substitute, received the ball deep in Levante’s half and slotted it past Ryan after a swift transition. The goal came in stoppage time, adding to the drama of the encounter.
The timing of the strike ensured Espanyol’s first league victory of the season, lifting them above Levante in the standings. Dolan’s composure under pressure highlighted the importance of individual quality in tight matches.
Espanyol’s resilience pays off
Despite early pressure from Levante, Espanyol gradually regained control of the game. Manolo González’s side showed resilience in defense, limiting Levante to few clear chances. The team’s structured approach allowed them to absorb pressure before launching dangerous counters.
The victory marked a strong start to the season for Espanyol, who had previously struggled to find consistency. Dolan’s goal not only secured the win but also provided a morale boost ahead of their next fixtures. The club will now look to build on this performance as they aim to climb the table.
Levante’s disappointment after tough start
Levante endured a frustrating afternoon as they failed to capitalize on their limited opportunities. Ryan made several crucial saves, but Espanyol’s late strike denied them any chance of a draw. The loss leaves Levante searching for their first points of the season.
The defeat adds to Levante’s struggles, as they continue to adapt to the demands of top-flight football. Their next challenge will be to regroup and bounce back in their upcoming matches. Meanwhile, Espanyol will aim to carry this momentum forward as they seek to establish themselves in the league.
